(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.)—January 15, 2014— New Hope Publishers is proud to announce its partnership with the American Cancer Society to help sponsor the 10th Annual 5K/1 Mile Brenda Ladun Conquer Cancer Run that is set to take place at St. Vincent’s One Nineteen Health & Wellness in Hoover on Saturday, March 1.
“It is a privilege to be able to come alongside Brenda and support the cause that she so passionately writes about,” says Andrea Mullins, publisher for New Hope. “She is committed to use her story to communicate the hope and encouragement of Christ to others.”
Ladun, a prime-time news anchor, is no stranger to life’s storms. In February 2001, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and, each night, viewers were inspired by her courageous battle.
In her latest title, Encouraged: An Inspiring Journey with Real-Life Stories of Hope, Ladun draws from her personal experience as well as those of others, and uses specific Scripture passages of encouragement to inspire readers who are going through their particular storms.
“Since battling cancer twice in thirteen years, and losing two friends in 2009 from this disease, I am more determined than ever before to reduce the pain and suffering caused from this illness,” says Ladun. “We are all in this fight together. I have faith that the human spirit is much stronger than cancer. I also believe if we join our forces, we could soon put an end to this deadly disease and raise that last dollar needed to find a cure.”
